Les Richesse des Terres hunides est la nouvelle exposition de Madame Barbara Safran de Riverview et sera au Salon Irène Grant-Guérette du 4 au 29 février 2012.

Les Richesses des Terres Humides mise sur la beauté et l’importance des cours d’eau et des marais au sud-est du Nouveau Brunswick. Madame Safran mentionne :

« Ce sont des terrains parfois ignorés et décriés comme laids et même pas utiles, mais mon exposition d’aquarelles met l’accent sur la valeur de ces paysages ».

Barbara Safran a créé plus de cinquante aquarelles des cours d’eau, surtout du bassin de la rivière Petitcodiac. Cette série présente un nouveau contexte de discussion au public à propos de l’environnement. Barbara explore la région du sud-est; le marais Tantramar, la vallée de Memramcook et le bassin de la Petitcodiac.

Ses tableaux font partie des collections privées et publiques tel que la Ville de Riverview Chambre du Conseil, l’Hôpital de Moncton, l’Université de Moncton et la Banque d’œuvres d’art du Nouveau Brunswick. Son tableau ‘‘Printemps Acadien’ de la vallée de Memramcook a été choisi était en exposition au Musée Acadien à l’Université de Moncton pendant les premières Retrouvailles en 1994.

Barbara a obtenu son Baccalauréat des Arts Visuels avec Distinction de Mount Allison University en 1977 et elle a étudié les maîtres anciens à la Galerie Nationale de Washington, DC et à la Galerie Tate à Londres, UK. En 2011, elle a étudié au Art Institute of Boston, Lesley Univeristy, Boston.

Barbara Safran is famous for her landscapes and realistic paintings on Maritime themes. Her paintings have been purchased for private and public collections such as the Riverview Chamber of Commerce, the Moncton General Hospital and the New Brunswick Art Bank. An accomplished watercolorist, Safran paints outdoors year round.

Having obtained her bachelor of arts with distinction from Mount Allison University, Safran also studied Old Masters and the National Gallery in Washington, DC and in the Tate Gallery in London, England. More recently in 2011, she was awarded the Sheila Hugh McKay Bursary which allowed her to undertake a master’s degree in Visual Arts at Lesley University and the Art Institute in Boston.

Riches of the Wetlands focuses on the beauty and the vital role that the watercourses and the marshlands play in New Brunswick’s South-East region. In fact, the marshlands play a critical role in our ecology, not only here in the province but around the world. As Safran points out: “This watercolour show is my tribute to these lands that are often overlooked and described as ugly and useless when in fact they are of great value.”

While she was researching and putting the show together, Safran created over 50 watercolours of rivers and streams, with particular emphasis on the Petitcodiac. The show offers a new context for discussions around the environment, which are always of the moment. Safran’s bailiwick is South East New Brunswick and most especially the Tantramar Marsh, the Memramcook Valley and the Petitcodiac River basin.
